TOKEN 2049 Dubai: experience = learning
Introduction: An imperfect event for a sector under construction
Attending TOKEN 2029 in Dubai was like immersing yourself in a condensed version of what the Web3 ecosystem is today: a lot of activity, brilliant ideas, some inconsistencies, and real potential that continues to take shape. The experience was demanding, but also revealing. What we experienced during those days taught us lessons that go beyond the main stage.
Side Events: Where the Conversations That Matter Happen
Moving through the various meetings held outside the official event was, at times, an odyssey. Heavy traffic, remote locations, and overlapping schedules forced us to quickly choose and decide what to upload. However, it was precisely in these more informal spaces where we managed to meet many of the people driving relevant projects.
Seeing the faces behind the names, sharing impressions beyond the institutional discourse, and engaging in sincere conversations provided value not reflected in the original schedule.
Life Beyond Work
The evening meetings, dinners, and informal get-togethers reminded us of something fundamental: this industry is built on people. The conversations we had at the end of the day, in a more relaxed atmosphere, allowed us to speak honestly, exchange ideas directly, and forge new collaborations.
When rigidity falls and spontaneity emerges, different doors open. And those doors are often the ones that truly matter.
The Main Event: More Exhibition-Like than Functional
TOKEN 2049's central space was ambitious, but also overflowing. Excessive attendees, overcrowded areas, and an organization that wasn't always up to par. Still, this concentration of people generated something valuable: dynamism. Around every corner, there was a technical conversation, a debate about scalability, or a contact worth noting.
The logistics may have been flawed, but the emerging content of those interactions made up for many of the discomforts.
Well-being amidst the accelerated pace
There was no shortage of self-care proposals: breathing sessions, ice baths, personalized supplements... Interesting initiatives, although difficult to integrate when you're constantly moving from one meeting to the next. Still, seeing these spaces starting to be incorporated indicates a shift in focus: taking care of the team and the individual is also part of building sustainability.
What We Really Took Away
What impacted us most wasn't a panel or a specific product, but rather the shared sense that Web3 has ceased to be a promise and has become a structure that is beginning to mature. The conversations revolved around efficiency, security, the design of robust tokenized economies, and the future of digital infrastructure.
Conclusions
We return with a reinforced conviction: we must continue building methodically. We will delve deeper into our simulations with ROOTS, support projects that understand the importance of testing before launching, and strengthen relationships that don't just remain mere rhetoric, but move toward action.
TOKEN 2049 wasn't perfect, but it gave us clarity—and in this industry, that's saying something.
